UBM’s online – marketing services businesses execute campaigns on behalf of clients seeking to enhance their branding, customer awareness, reach and engagement or to generate sales leads.

Online marketing techniques continue to evolve rapidly, with customers seeking to integrate online products and services into marketing campaigns to achieve active ‘engagement’ with the target audience, rather than passive ‘reach’. Marketers demand increasingly sophisticated measure of customer ‘engagement’, tracking campaign outcomes in terms of lead generation and involvement in ‘opt-in’ programmes, and using interactive social media.

UBM is capitalising on these new opportunities to develop innovative online products which provide clients with measurable return on investment and high audience engagement. UBM products include advertising (such as website banner adverts), lead generation services and, increasingly, creating and managing virtual events and community websites on behalf of clients.

Digital Environments (previously referred to as Virtual Events) are a particular area of focus for UBM’s investment in innovative online engagement products. Digital Environments extend the face-to-face interaction of ‘in person’ live events into the online environment. We believe we are the market leader in virtual events. In 2011 we hosted more than 250 digital events.

UBM’s online product set is strongest in technology markets. This reflects both the strength and breadth of UBM’s presence in these markets but also the technology community’s early adoption of data services for marketing and communications, as well as workflow solutions.
