Executive Committee

The Executive Committee are the Chief Executive Officer’s management team. Together, they are accountable for the day to day running of UBM and for the development and execution of our strategy.

Skills and experience: Tim was previously Chief Executive at De La Rue, an international business employing 4,000 people in more than 150 countries covering the Africa, Asia, Continental Europe, Latin America, Middle East and the USA. His previous roles included UK engineering group TI Group and Chloride Group plc, where he became Chief Executive in 2008. Chloride operates in Continental Europe, Asia, US, Middle East and Australia. After graduating from Imperial College with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tim qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse.

Skills and experience: Marina was previously Chief Financial Officer and member of the Management Board at TomTom NV for ten years. Before joining TomTom, she was Chief Financial Officer of Colt Telecom from 2002-5. Prior to this she was Group Finance Director at Psion Plc having been promoted from Group Controller in 1996. Marina is a Chartered Accountant having begun her career with Arthur Andersen, working in London and the US. Marina graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in geography.

External Appointments: Non-Executive Director of Shanks Group plc. Member of the Supervisory Board at Lucas Bols B.V.

Skills and experience: An experienced HR practitioner with wide-ranging industry experience, Eleanor combines strong commercial appreciation with in-depth experience of providing HR services to global organisations. Most recently with SAP, she was latterly Senior Vice President Human Resources for EMEA, responsible for providing integrated HR services to SAP’s growing European business. Eleanor previously held roles in medium-sized, acquisitive technology companies including Geac Corporation and Lawson Software, having started her career with Mobil Oil Corporation.

Jane joined UBM in 1993 following successive positions in sales, management and publishing at both VNU and Haymarket. She has managed several flagship brands at UBM, ranging across multiple markets and geographies, launches and mature products and acquisitions. Jane is now charged with leading GEM (Global Events Momentum) across UBM which is an internal engine of customer and event excellence, best practice and growth innovation. She was previously on the Board of the Association of Event Organisers.

Skills & Experience: Jime started his career with NV Databank in international trade promotion, business information and advertising. Subsequently he worked for Expoconsult (now part of UBM) as Managing Director of the Netherlands office. He was responsible for the branded international food ingredients and pharmaceutical ingredients shows in Europe, Asia, and South and North America. Jimé then joined Ogilvy & Mather and subsequently Royal Dutch Jaarbeurs/VNU Exhibitions in 1998. He was appointed as CEO of VNU Exhibitions Europe and then President of VNU Exhibitions Asia in 2006.

Skills & Experience: John spent his preceding 15 years at Deloitte where he was a senior Strategy Director focused on media, technology and B2B industries. During that time John advised executive teams of large multinational Fortune 500 companies on issues of strategy and growth, portfolio development, digital enablement and successfully driving business and organisational change. He has experience working across North and South America, EMEA and Asia markets, and has led commercial acquisitions for both corporate acquirers and private equity. Prior to Deloitte, John was a consultant with Arthur Andersen and an engineer with the Ford Motor Company. John has a Master’s degree in engineering from Cambridge University.

On the formation of Diageo plc, Mark was appointed its joint Deputy Secretary. He has subsequently held senior company secretarial appointments at both Xansa (formerly FI Group) and Balfour Beatty. Mark is responsible for regulatory and compliance matters across the Group, including Business Conduct, Legal, Risk and Health & Safety.

Skills & Experience: Scott has spent more than 25 years in the information, media and business services industries. Most recently, as President of Rodale, he led a transformation of the health and wellness media company to drive global growth in digital, mobile, new product launches and live events. Prior to this, Scott spent 13 years at Dow Jones & Company, where he led the B2B operating groups, digital media, events, as well as sales, marketing and strategy. He earlier was a partner in the Communications, Media & Technology practice at Booz Allen. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Duke University and an MBA from Harvard University.

Skills & Experience: After graduate training with CAP, Simon joined J Walter Thompson eventually becoming the worldwide CIO of the advertising agency. During the 1990s he was involved in a couple of technology start-ups including setting up Online Marketing, which was subsequently sold to Impact Solutions. In 2001 he became CIO of PA Consulting Group and then in 2004 moved to BT where he held a variety of roles CIO and Transformation roles within BT’s Technology Leadership Group, focusing on new product and customer experience development. Since 2010 Simon has held interim CIO roles at EMI Music and Oxford University Press as well as consulting for a number of media and telco clients. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Birmingham University.

Skills & Experience: Mark is an experienced company secretary.
