Tim Cobbold Chief Executive Officer
Tim was previously Chief Executive Officer at De La Rue, an international business employing 4,000 people in more than 150 countries covering Africa, Asia, Continental Europe, Latin America, Middle East and the USA. His previous roles included UK engineering group TI Group and Chloride Group plc where he became Chief Executive in 2008. Chloride operates in Continental Europe, Asia, US, Middle East and Australia. After graduating from Imperial College with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tim qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse.
Marina Wyatt Chief Financial Officer
Marina joined UBM’s Board as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director in September 2015, having previously been Chief Financial Officer and member of the Management Board at TomTom NV for ten years. Before joining TomTom, Marina was Chief Financial Officer of Colt Telecom from 2002-5. Prior to this she was Group Finance Director at Psion Plc having been promoted from Group Controller in 1996. Marina is a Chartered Accountant having begun her career with Arthur Andersen, working in London and the US. Marina graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in geography.
Jime Essink Chief Executive Officer, UBM Asia
Jime took up his post as Chief Executive Officer of CMP Asia, now UBM Asia, in November 2007. Jime has long experience of leading and growing B2B media businesses in emerging and developed markets throughout Asia and Europe. He joined UBM from VNU Exhibitions where he worked since 1999. Based in Shanghai as CEO of VNU Exhibitions Asia, Jime was responsible for VNU's portfolio of more than 20 Asian exhibitions which serve a wide range of B2B and consumer markets. In 2006 he was appointed CEO of VNU Exhibitions Europe and President of VNU Exhibitions Asia, spending a week a month in China. Before joining VNU, Jime also spent seven years as managing director of Miller Freeman Netherlands (now part of UBM Live), organiser of among others the Pharmaceutical and Food Ingredients events.
Simon Hollins Group Chief Information Officer
Simon joined UBM as Group Chief Information Officer in May 2016. His focus is on improving UBM's internal technologies and processes whilst creating an IT function that can deliver innovations in how UBM interacts with, and serves, its customers.
After training as a graduate with Cap Financial Services, Simon joined J Walter Thompson and, over several years, worked his way up to become the worldwide CIO of the advertising agency – which at the time had over $2 billion of revenues and employed 7,300 professionals. Then, like many technology specialists in the 1990s, Simon was involved in a couple of technology start-ups including setting up Online Marketing, a digital compression specialist, which was subsequently sold to what then became Impact Solutions. In 2001 he was headhunted to become CIO of PA Consulting Group, the global technology consulting firm. Then in 2004 there was the opportunity to move in-house with BT. Over the following 6 years, Simon held a variety of roles including Global IT Director for BT Consulting and Systems Integration Group, Programme Director of Project within BT Global Services, Senior Director of Global Practices and finally CIO of BT Real-Time/Delivery.
In 2010 Simon decided to go freelance and became Interim CIO at EMI Music helping them to overcome the turmoil in the music marketplace. He redesigned the digital supply chain taking out significant cost and preparing the company for new distribution. Most recently Simon has been Interim CIO at Oxford University Press. Working closely with the CFO he designed new digital supply systems; outsourced much of the legacy IT; and also designed and implemented a business transformation plan to ensure new processes and product were integrated successfully. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Birmingham University.
Mark PetersCompany Secretary
Mark joined UBM as Company Secretary in September 2014. He has overall responsibility for statutory compliance and corporate governance across UBM as well as business conduct (ethics and compliance). He also oversees UBM’s corporate social responsibility programme. Mark started his career with British Aerospace, where he qualified as a company secretary, later moving into a commercial contracting role. He then joined Guinness as Company Secretary of Guinness Brewing Worldwide. On the merger of Guinness and Grand Metropolitan, Mark became Joint Deputy Secretary of Diageo plc. He has subsequently held senior company secretarial appointments at both Xansa (formerly FI Group) and Balfour Beatty. A graduate of the University of Warwick, Mark is also a chartered secretary.
John Petevinos Group Strategy Director
John Petevinos joined UBM plc as Group Strategy Director in April 2016
John, or JP as he is known, spent the preceding 15 years at Deloitte where he was a senior Strategy Director focused on media, technology and B2B industries. During that time John advised executive teams of large multinational Fortune 500 companies on issues of strategy and growth, portfolio development, digital enablement and successfully driving business and organisational change. He has experience working across North and South America, EMEA and Asia markets, and has led commercial acquisitions for both corporate acquirers and private equity.
Prior to Deloitte, John was a consultant with Arthur Andersen and an engineer with the Ford Motor Company. John has a Master’s degree in engineering from Cambridge University.
Eleanor Phillips Group Human Resources Director
Eleanor Phillips joined UBM plc in October 2014 as Group Human Resources Director.
Eleanor is responsible for leading UBM’s Human Resources function worldwide, working closely with the CEO and her Executive Committee colleagues to evolve UBM’s organisation and people strategy in support of the company’s long term corporate goals.
Eleanor is an experienced Executive Board Human Resources practitioner with wide-ranging industry experience. She combines strong commercial appreciation with a professional background in successfully delivering HR services to global organisations growing both organically and acquisitively in emerging and developed economies. Most recently, Eleanor worked for almost four years with SAP, latterly as Senior Vice President Human Resource for EMEA, where she was responsible for providing integrated HR services to SAP’s growing European business.
Prior to this Eleanor held both regional and global roles in medium-sized, acquisitive technology companies including Geac Corporation and Lawson Software. She originally learnt her trade in the oil industry having worked for Mobil Oil Corporation.
Jane Risby-Rose Global EVP, UBM Events
Jane was promoted to Global EVP, Events in June 2010, having previously been CEO of UBM Live. Jane has been with previous iterations of the company (Blenheim, Miller Freeman, CMP) for 17 years and previously worked for Haymarket and VNU.
Jane is responsible for driving UBM's accelerated event strategy and chairs the GEM (Global Events Momentum) initiative of best practice devolution and growth innovation. She also sits on the AEO Board.
Jane has a B.A (Hons) and Post Graduate from the University of Leeds.
Scott Schulman Chief Executive Officer, UBM Americas
Scott Schulman was appointed CEO of UBM Americas in April 2016. He has spent more than 25 years in the information, media and business services industries, as a leader of global businesses and consultant/advisor to many of the world’s most successful and innovative companies.
Most recently, as President of Rodale, he led a transformation of the health and wellness media company to drive global growth in digital sites, mobile tools and new product launches. This work tripled digital profits in 2 years through increased traffic, better monetization, partnerships and a new unified digital platform. He and the team also launched innovative new products in paid online courses, mobile tools, a new digital video network and branded e-commerce stores. He led an expansion of live events and the company’s international footprint and established the foundation for new business models in B2B employee wellness; product licensing, premium content offerings and television shows. Prior to this, Scott spent 13 years at Dow Jones & Company, where he served in a series of operating roles in which he drove new strategies and product solutions to provide customers with critical information to help them conduct their business. These businesses helped connect businesspeople to commercial opportunities, networks, people and investments. In all of these roles, Scott led the business operations as well as the content and editorial areas. He has a track record of driving top- and bottom-line growth by developing new market segments, expanding into global markets and creating digital business models.
