Tim Cobbold Chief Executive Officer
Tim was previously Chief Executive Officer at De La Rue, an international business employing 4,000 people in more than 150 countries covering Africa, Asia, Continental Europe, Latin America, Middle East and the USA. His previous roles included UK engineering group TI Group and Chloride Group plc where he became Chief Executive in 2008. Chloride operates in Continental Europe, Asia, US, Middle East and Australia. After graduating from Imperial College with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tim qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse.
Robert Gray Chief Financial Officer (Until September 2015)
Robert joined UBM’s Board as Chief Financial Officer in September 2009 having previously been at Codere S.A. for five years where he was Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Executive Committee. Before joining Codere, Mr Gray enjoyed a successful 24 year career in investment and commercial banking. From 1999 he was Managing Director, Latin American Investment Banking for Deutsche Bank, based in New York. Prior to his role at Deutsche Bank, Mr Gray spent almost twenty years in a variety of roles at J.P. Morgan Co. with a particular focus on building and managing banking businesses in international markets, notably Latin America. Robert is an MBA graduate of Harvard Business School.
Philip Chapnick Group Chief Representative for UBM in China
Philip was appointed Group Chief Representative for UBM in China in early 2010.
He joined the company in 1987 as Editor-in-Chief of Al Expert Magazine and has held a wide variety of editorial, publishing and management positions. As Group Chief Representative he is responsible for working with all of UBM’s businesses in China to grow UBM’s overall business presence in China.
Philip is a graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo.
Andrew Crow Group Operations Director
Andrew qualified as a chartered accountant with Deloitte Haskins & Sells. With Deloitte and subsequently Coopers & Lybrand he undertook a wide range of advisory and consultancy roles for major clients, focusing on the retail and leisure sectors. Andrew joined UBM in 1997 as Group Financial Controller and was appointed as Deputy Chief Financial Officer in 2001. In 2010, he was appointed as Group Operations Director. Andrew is a graduate of the University of Bristol with an honours degree in Mathematics and Statistics; he also holds an MBA from Warwick Business School.
Chris Light Group Financial Controller
Chris joined UBM in November 2011, initially working on finance projects and was subsequently appointed Group Financial Controller in July 2013. Chris is responsible for all aspects of financial planning and analysis, reporting and control. Chris works closely with finance teams in UBM's businesses to deliver high quality reporting and a robust control environment. Prior to joining UBM Chris spent nine years in the assurance practice at Ernst & Young focused on working with large listed clients and the Media and Entertainment sector. Chris is a graduate of the University of Exeter with an Honours degree in Finance and Accounting.
Neil Mepham Head of Mergers & Acquisitions and Taxation
Neil was appointed Head of Mergers & Acquisitions and Tax on 1 January 2009. He joined UBM in 1998 as Head of Tax having previously worked at Deloitte Haskins & Sells (which became PwC) corporate tax department where he specialised in both International Tax and Corporate Restructuring. Neil is a graduate from Warwick University with an Honours Degree in Economics. Neil qualified as an accountant in 1987.
Mark Peters, Company Secretary
Mark joined UBM as Company Secretary in September 2014. He has overall responsibility for statutory compliance and corporate governance across UBM as well as business conduct (ethics and compliance). He also oversees UBM’s corporate social responsibility programme.
Mark started his career with British Aerospace, where he qualified as a company secretary, later moving into a commercial contracting role.
He then joined Guinness as Company Secretary of Guinness Brewing Worldwide. On the merger of Guinness and Grand Metropolitan, Mark became Joint Deputy Secretary of Diageo plc.
He has subsequently held senior company secretarial appointments at both Xansa (formerly FI Group) and Balfour Beatty. A graduate of the University of Warwick, Mark is also a chartered secretary.
Eleanor Phillips Group Human Resources Director
Eleanor Phillips joined UBM plc in October 2014 as Group Human Resources Director, succeeding Sally Shankland who has taken up the role of Chief Executive Officer of UBM Americas. Eleanor is a member of UBM’s Executive Committee.
Eleanor is responsible for leading UBM’s Human Resources function worldwide, working closely with the CEO and her Executive Committee colleagues to evolve UBM’s organisation and people strategy in support of the company’s long term corporate goals.
Eleanor is an experienced Executive Board Human Resources practitioner with wide-ranging industry experience. She combines strong commercial appreciation with a professional background in successfully delivering HR services to global organisations growing both organically and acquisitively in emerging and developed economies. Most recently, Eleanor worked for almost four years with SAP, latterly as Senior Vice President Human Resource for EMEA, where she was responsible for providing integrated HR services to SAP’s growing European business.
Prior to this Eleanor held both regional and global roles in medium-sized, acquisitive technology companies including Geac Corporation and Lawson Software. She originally learnt her trade in the oil industry having worked for Mobil Oil Corporation.
Richard Piercy, Group Chief Information Officer
Richard Piercy joined UBM plc in January 2013 as Group Chief information Officer and is a member of UBM’s Executive Committee.
Richard is responsible for leading UBM’s Information Technology function worldwide, working closely with the CEO and Executive Committee colleagues to deliver a robust and reliable IT service that supports both the current needs and future strategy of UBM.
Richard is an experienced Information Technology practitioner with deep international experience. He specializes in transformational change and spent ten years with EMI Music helping manage the transition from “physical to digital”. The early part of his career was spent consulting with Accenture and Boston Consulting Group.
Kate Postans Head of Investor Relations
Kate joined UBM in December 2010 to take responsibility for UBM’s Investor Relations which had previously been managed by the Chief and Deputy Financial Officers.
Kate spent the previous three years as Head of Investor Relations for Ladbrokes plc. She managed Ladbrokes’ investor relations through a period in which the company undertook a Rights Issue and Chief Executive Officer stepped down and his successor was appointed. Previously, Kate was Investor Relations Manager at Invensys plc.
Kate’s first career after leaving university was in Corporate Finance at Deutsche Bank. She has an MA (Hons) in Economics from Edinburgh University.
Jane Risby-Rose Global EVP, UBM Events
Jane was promoted to Global EVP, Events in June 2010, having previously been CEO of UBM Live. Jane has been with previous iterations of the company (Blenheim, Miller Freeman, CMP) for 17 years and previously worked for Haymarket and VNU.
Jane is responsible for driving UBM's accelerated event strategy and chairs the GEM (Global Events Momentum) initiative of best practice devolution and growth innovation. She also sits on the AEO Board.
Jane has a B.A (Hons) and Post Graduate from the University of Leeds.
