United Business Media acquires AeroStrategy data business
Commonwealth Business Media expands its aviation and aerospace market capabilities
United Business Media plc today announces that it has acquired AeroStrategy’s aviation data business on behalf of its Commonwealth Business Media division. UBM has acquired the business from its founders for an initial cash consideration of US$0.9m, with a further performance-related consideration of up to US$1.2m payable over the next three years.
AeroStrategy operates consultancy and data businesses in the aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) sectors and is highly regarded for its strategic and market insight into the aviation sector. Its unique proprietary databases provide critical information on actual and projected MRO spend to key decision-makers in the business and general aviation, air transport and civil helicopter sectors.
The data business will be integrated into Commonwealth Business Media’s OAGback business, adding a powerful data product to complement its MRO events and other product offerings acquired through the acquisition of Aviation Industry Group in 2006.Alan Glass, Chief Executive of Commonwealth Business Media, said:
“This acquisition provides Commonwealth with a unique proprietary IP platform on which we can develop new data products to further enhance our subscription-based, analytical product portfolio for our aviation industry customers. It also enables us to extend our aviation products into business aviation and helicopters.”
